SOME COMMON MISTSKES

Simple past tense is also called as Past Simple Tense. Most of the people use this tense in writing everyday communication. Therefore it is important to have a good understanding and to have a good practice to use it. Here are some common mistakes that most of the English learners do when they use the simple past tense.

1). The first sentence here is wrong. We have to identify the correct tense. The word 'yesterday' is a time expression that is used in the past. Therefore the tense should be Simple Past. Accordingly we have to use the past form of the verb eat which is ate.
Correct sentence;- I ate bread for breakfast yesterday.

2).   The second sentence is wrong. If it is simple past we have to use the past form of the verb. but we must have the knowledge on regular and irregular verbs. Read being an irregular verb doesn't add 'd' or 'ed' at the end. The same base verb is used as the past form and only the pronunciation changes.
Correct sentence;- They read the lesson.
3).  The third sentence is wrong because of the incorrect form that is used. When we use 'did' in simple past tense the verb should be in the base form.
Correct sentence;- She didn't speak English.

4).  The forth sentence is wrong because of incorrect spellings of the verb. The verb 'Ban' is a regular verb and last letter should be double to add ed.
Correct Sentence;- They banned some advertisements.

5). The fifth sentence is also wrong due to the incorrect use of the helping verb. To make the question form of a simple past tense sentence, we have to start from 'did'.
Correct sentence;- Didn't you go there?
